Watts shot a series of images of an arts apartment in Russia, run as a drop-in retreat, where artists and creatives mix with the terminally ill. This documentary project is a portrayal of the living character of the apartment, rather than just a series of interiors. Guests and visitors are seen in these images as impermanent, transitory, partially blurred, fading from the scenes. The time they spend in the apartment is also indicated by blurs. In this series, people are ephemeral, and only the environment of the apartment – and still life such as fresh fruit on its tables – has any assured tenure on tomorrow.
