In this personal project, photographer Elmira Watts explores aspects of one of the recurring motifs of her imagery: childhood. 'Children's World' is a series that shows children's futures intruding on their now; fantasies and dreams, and aspirations for adulthood, leaking into their present reality; and childhood features that prefigure adult personalities. The subjects are depicted with symbolic 'attributes' – toys, instruments, clothing and accessories – that are used in these photographs to represent childhood, adulthood and the transition between them.
