In this collection, Elmira Watts has chosen images that explore aspects of one of the recurring motifs of her imagery: childhood. 'Children's World' shows children's futures intruding on their now; fantasies and dreams and aspirations for adulthood leaking into their present reality; and childhood features that prefigure adult personalities. The subjects are depicted with symbolic 'attributes' – toys, instruments, clothing and accessories – that are used in these photographs to represent childhood, adulthood and the transition between them.
